O D E R - W A R T A REMEMBRANCE C O N N E C T S With the funding project „Places of Remembrance Oder-Warta“ (fund- ing programme European Regional Development Fund, Cooperation Programme for Cross-border Coop- eration INTERREG VA BB-PL 2014- 2020), the project partners City of Seelow (lead partner), City of Ko- strzyn nad Odrą and Municipality of Słońsk developed the brand „Re- membrance Connects“ in order to jointly maintain and strengthen the unique landscape of remembrance in the Oder-Warta region and, as a special feature, also enhance its val- ue for tourism. Various outputs were realised in joint cross-border project work. Cross-border tourism brand Around 200 places of remembrance in the Oder-Warta region offer individual and multi-lay- ered insights into the eventful regional histo- ry. Taken together, they have great potential for sustainable tourism offers with inter- national appeal. The Oder-Warta region should be understood as a common, cross-bor- der historical cultural space. The special feature of the project was to promote the exchange of the differ- ent perspectives of remembrance culture in Germany, Poland and in- ternationally. As a multi-perspective remem- brance landscape for the special history of the German-Polish border region, especially from 1944 on- wards, the Oder-Warta region offers unique and authentic destinations for educational and remembrance tourism, cultural tours, exchange and dialogue. The common concern and content guideline of the new brand can be traced back to the statement “Re- membrance unites”. The goal is a common peaceful future and a deeper mutual understanding. Cross-border network of places of remembrance Places of remembrance, monu- ments and museums actively coop- erate within the framework of a joint regional brand to create a common space for remembrance, discov- ery and togetherness that supports a better understanding of the multi-layered worlds of remembrance on both sides of the border and openly transports them to the public outside. Other project outputs: • Analysis and categorisation of remembrance sites in the Oder- Warta region • Development of a common database • Marketing concept • Encounter, exchange, supraregional networking and cooperation • Development of multilingual marketing tools (travel guide, image brochure, flyers, posters, roll-up displays, website) Funding project 2019-2023
